What to include
A first message does not need to be formal, but four things make the reply useful instead of a request for more information:
- What you sell, and to whom
- What is not working, or what you are launching
- Roughly when you need it
- A budget range, even a rough one
Budget in particular saves both of us time. It is not used to price up to your ceiling — it is used to tell you honestly whether what you want is achievable at that level, and if not, what would be.
